#rainbowshawlcal – weeks 15&16 and finished shawl

Here are the final rows of the #rainbowshawlcal We finish with a few rows of shell stitch in a final colour (I’ve chosen pink). I hope you’ve enjoyed this project. Row 33: join final colour, 4 ch, 3 dtr in base of ch, *miss 3 sts, dc, miss 3 sts, 7 dtr in next st; repeat from * to end, 5 dtr in last shell and finish with a tr in the final stitch. Fasten off and rejoin yarn to other end.

Row 34: ch1, dc in same st, *miss 3 sts, 7 dtr in dc of previous row, miss 3 sts, dc; repeat from * to end of row, finish with 2 tr in the last stitch. Fasten off and rejoin yarn to other end.

Row 35: 4 ch, 3 dtr in base of chain, *miss 3 sts, dc, miss 3 sts, 7dtr in next st; repeat from * to end of row, finish with 5 dtr for last shell and then a tr in final st. Fasten off and rejoin yarn to other end.

Row 36: 1 ch, dc in each stitch to end. Fasten off.

I finished off my shawl by tieing my ends into four big knots on each end, using two colours for each tassel. Of course you can do what you like with yours this was my way to avoid weaving in all the ends😉

#rainbowshawlcal weeks 13 & 14

As we’re approaching the end of the #rainbowshawlcal I though I’d better catch up with the blog posts! Here are the rows for weeks 13 & 14.

Row 29: join next colour. 1 ch, 21 dc, *5 ch, dc into top of centre tr in the cluster on first purple row (see photo) 5 ch, skip 5 sts, 22 dc; repeat from * 8 times, finishing with 18 DC. Fasten off and rejoin yarn to other end.

Row 30: 3 Ch, [3tr, 1ch, skip 2 sts] repeat to end, finishing with 1 ch, 1 tr in final stitch. Fasten off and rejoin yarn to other end.IMG_3541

Row 31: 3 ch, 2tr in space before 3tr cluster, [1 ch, 3tr in space between clusters] repeat to end, finishing with 1 ch, tr in the top of last stitch. Fasten off and rejoin yarn to other end.

Row 32: 3 ch, 1 tr in each stitch (not chain spaces) to end. Fasten off.

Row 24: join next colour, 3 Ch, 2 tr in next chsp, *3 tr in each chsp to end*, finish with 3 tr in final chsp. Fasten off and rejoin yarn to other end.

Row 25: 2 ch, DC between clusters of previous row, until stitch marker, 3ch over stitch marker, finish with 2ch, DC in last stitch. Fasten off and rejoin yarn to first chsp at other end. 70 chsps.

Row 26: 3ch, 2tr, *3tr in each chsp, repeat to stitch marker, 6 tr in 3-chsp at stitch marker, continue like this to the end. Fasten off and rejoin yarn to other end.

Row 27: 3ch, 3 tr, *popcorn, 8 tr; repeat to end, finishing with 3tr. Fasten off and rejoin yarn to other end.

Row 28: 1 ch, DC in each stitch to end.

Row 20: join next colour, 3 ch, *tr through back of loop, tr* repeat these two stitches until end of row. Fasten of yarn and rejoin at other end.

Row 21: 3 ch, *2 tr in next stitch, 1 ch, skip 2 stitches* repeat until stitch marker, 4 tr (rather than 2) in the stitch above each stitch marker, finish with a single tr in the final stitch. Fasten off and rejoin yarn to other end.

Row 22: 3 ch, *2tr into space between pair of trs from row below, 1 ch* repeat to end, finish with 1 ch, tr in final stitch. Fasten off and rejoin yarn to other end.

Row 23: 2 ch, *dc in middle of v from previous row, 2 ch* repeat to end, finishing with 2 ch, dc in last stitch. Fasten off ready for a new colour.

Weeks 7&8 #rainbowshawlcal

Row 16: join yarn to top of chain. Ch3, 3tr into 1st dc in the chsp of row below. 3tr into each of the first DC’s in each chsp. When you reach a stitch marker, 6tr into the chsp above the ‘v’ made be the previous row, move stitch marker to the middle of these stitches. Finish with one tr into the last stitch. Break off yarn and rejoin to top of chain at other end.

Row 17: ch3, 3tr cluster between each cluster of the row below, 3tr cluster at each stitch marker. Finish with 2tr after final cluster. Break off yarn and rejoin to top of chain at other end.

Row 18: ch3, tr, *popcorn, tr in next 5 stitches* repeat to end (finish with 3tr). Break off yarn and rejoin at other end.

Row 19, updated: ch1, dc in each stitch to popcorn, skip popcorn stitch, continue to stitch marker, 2dc in stitch above marker (move marker up to between these two stitches) continue with 1dc, skipping popcorns, until next stitch marker and repeat to end. Break of yarn but don’t rejoin (we’ll have a new colour next week).

Weeks 5&6 #rainbowshawlcal

Hi, this is where I’m saving the weekly updates to the #rainbowshawlcal to help anyone who wants to join after the official start. Week 1&2 is available here: #rainbowshawlcal weeks 1 & 2

Row 10: ch3, 3tr cluster in each chsp to end. Move stitch markers up to this row, between clusters. (53 clusters) Break off yarn but don’t rejoin because it’s time for our next colour.

Row 11: join yellow (or your choice of colour) yarn to top of chain. Ch3, *tr into the space before next 3tr cluster, 2tr into the middle stitch of the cluster*. Repeat to stitch marker, 2tr into the space where the stitch marker is, move stitch marker up to between these two stitches. Keep repeating like this, 1tr between clusters unless it’s a stitch marker when it’s 2trs. 2trs in the centre of each cluster. 1tr in final stitch of last cluster. (168 trs) Break off yarn and rejoin to the top of the chain at the other end.

Row 12: ch3, tr, *ch1, 2tr into the lowered stitch of the row below* repeat until the stitch marker. At stitch marker, 2tr into first of lower stitches, ch1, 2tr into second lower stitch. Move stitch marker up to between the two sets of 2tr. Continue as before to end of row. Finish with 2tr into final stitch. Break off yarn and rejoin to the top of the chain at the other end.

Row 13:
Ch3, 2tr in space between turning chain and next stitch, *ch1, 2 tr in space between 2tr of previous row* repeat from * until end. Finish with a single tr between the final 2tr. Break off yarn and rejoin to the top of the chain at the other end.

Row 14:
Ch3, *tr, ch2* repeat until end of row, finishing with a tr in the final tr of last row. Break off yarn, ready for a new colour.

Row 15:
Join new colour top of chain in previous row. Ch1, *DC into top of next tr, 2 dc into chain space (chsp)* repeat until stitch marker, ch3, sc into space between two sets of Vs on row 12, ch3, DC into top of next tr and continue with pattern until next stitch marker.

Weeks 3&4 – Rainbow Shawl Crochet Along

Hello and welcome to the #rainbowshawlcal I hope you are enjoying it! There are some videos to help you over on IGTV . The first weeks of this CAL are also available on my blog here: #rainbowshawlcal weeks 1 & 2

Row 5: chain 1, ^*sc in next stitch, chain 2, skip 2 stitches* repeat from * 3 more times, sc, skip 1 stitch. Repeat the whole thing from ^ 8 times and sc into the final stitch (no skipped stitch on the very last repeat). (You should now have 45 2ch spaces) Break off yarn but don’t rejoin as we will use a new colour for the next row.

Row 6: join orange yarn (or your choice of colour) to the top of the chain at the right hand side of your work and ch3. 3tr in each 2 chain space to the end, as you reach the stitch markers move them up and place them in the middle of your current 3tr cluster. (45 3tr clusters) Break off yarn and reattach to the top of your 3 chain at the other end.

Row 7: ch 1, *sc into the space before next 3tr cluster, ch2*.
This is the pattern, repeat to end except when you get to a cluster with a stitch marker ch3 rather than ch2.
If the above is to vague for you then here it is written out: repeat from * 3 more times then sc, ch3. Repeat the whole thing 8 more times.
Sc into last tr in the last cluster. Break off yarn and reattach to the top of your 3 chain at the other end.

Row 8: ch 3, 3tr cluster in each ch space (chsp) until you reach a stitch marker. In the chsp above each stitch marker do 3tr, ch1, 3tr (so there are two clusters rather than the usual one). Move stitch marker up to between these two clusters. Break off yarn after the last cluster and rejoin to the top of the chain at the other end. (53 clusters)

Row 9: ch3, *tr in space before next cluster, ch2* repeat 52 more times, tr in top of final tr of the previous row. (53 chsps) Break off yarn and rejoin to the top of the chain at the other end.

#rainbowshawlcal weeks 1 & 2

Hello and welcome to the #rainbowshawlcal I’m hosting this mystery crochet along on instagram but thought I’d post the first couple of weeks here as well for those who don’t use instagram.

I am using british crochet terminology, here is a handy list of translations for those of you who prefer US terms: http://www.simplycrochetmag.co.uk/2013/07/04/uk-and-us-crochet-conversion-chart/

Foundation row: Chain 75 (72 stitches plus turning chain).

Row 1: starting at the 4th chain from the hook *1 tr into each of the next 7 stitches, 3tr into next stitch placing a stitch marker in the middle stitch* repeat from * to * 8 more times. (91 stitches, including the top of the turning chain)
Break off yarn and reattach to top of turning chain at other end (we are going to work all our rows with the right side facing us, do not weave in ends, leave about 15 cm of yarn).

Row 2: Chain 3, *3tr into next stitch, skip 2, 3tr, skip2, 3tr, skip1, 3tr into stitch that has stitch marker (move stitch marker into middle stitch of this tr), skip1* repeat 8 times, single tr into the last stitch (36 3tr clusters, plus starting chain and single tr). Break off yarn and attach at other end to the top of the chain 3.

Row 3: Chain 3, 3tr into the space before the next tr cluster of the previous row. Repeat 3 tr clusters in each space. Finish with 2 tr in space before final single tr. (36 clusters plus 2tr and turning ch.) Break off yarn and attach at other end to top of chain 3.

Row4: ch3, *tr into the top of the next 12 stitches 2 tr in the space before the next cluster (this is above a stitch marker – move the stitch marker to between these two trs)* repeat 8 times. (126 trs, plus turning chain)Break off yarn and attach at other end.
